Pamela Thompson
Co-owner and Lead Sonographer
Myself and what I enjoy
I live with my partner Mark and between us we have 6 daughters. I love spending time with my family and Merl the dog. Merl takes me on lots of walks and I also like to go to spin class to keep fit. We have a campervan and when I’m not working at Miracle Within I am usually having a few days away. Mark and I also love going to music events and comedy shows. We have seen many bands and comedians!
My career as a Sonographer
After being qualified as a Radiographer for 14 years I began training as a Sonographer and qualified in 2010 after successfully completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound from Leeds University. I trained at Bradford Hospitals NHS Trust and since then I have worked at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Trust and then Mid Yorkshire Trust. As I have already said, I love travelling so I left to become a Locum Sonographer and spent a couple of years travelling the country working as far away as the Outer Hebrides, Cornwall and Brighton. In 2019 I decided to settle back in a job close to home and that is when we started planning Miracle Within. I still work some shifts within the NHS as I believe this is the best place to keep up to date with current practices.
What does Miracle Within mean to you
Miracle Within is so much more than a job to me. It means so much to me when I hear people praising our service. We are a very close team and we all work together to be the best we can be. I am one of the lucky ones who has a job that they love.

Myself and what I enjoy
I live with my boyfriend Luke and our lovely Cockapoo Merl. I love spending time with my family and going on adventures with Merl. Our family loves to play board games but it can get quite competitive! My favourite way to unwind is by snuggling up under a blanket and watching a film. During the summer I work at a few car shows and I love to see all the vintage and classic vehicles!
My career in admin
In my first year of college, I did a Business Enterprise & Entrepreneurship course, I also started a part-time role at Classic Shows (a classic vehicle show organiser). Since I enjoyed my role at Classic Shows so much, I decided to do an apprenticeship for my second year of college. After this finished, I stayed on with Classic Shows and with it being a small business I got to learn lots of things in different areas such as finance, marketing, and event preparation. After a few years of working there I became Office Manager and ran a small team. I also ran the admissions gate at the shows. All this experience gave me the knowledge necessary to open Miracle Within.
When Pamela mentioned opening a baby scan clinic, it was scary but business has always been a passion of mine so I jumped at the chance! Pamela runs the clinical side of the business, and I run the admin side which includes working on reception.
What does Miracle Within mean to you
They say when you love what you do you don’t work a day in your life! Miracle Within is a family business and it has definitely brought me and Pamela (my Mum) closer together! Working with family has it’s ups and downs but to be able to work side by side running a business creates an unbreakable bond! We are lucky that the rest of the Miracle Within team feel like family as well! Due to only one sonographer and receptionist working at a time we don’t get to see each other in a group setting often but when we arrange work outings, we all get on like a house on fire. We have a truly amazing team and I feel like this is reflected in our reviews.

Myself and what I enjoy
I live with my husband and our two children Tilly and George. Tilly and George keep us very busy and we love to go exploring with them. We also really enjoy spending time with our family and friends including Tilly’s “Girl Gang” at pre-school who have adopted George! They love to meet up and play at parks or each other’s houses and it allows the grown-ups to relax together too.
My career as a Sonographer
Having graduated as a Radiographer from Liverpool University I then went on to complete my post graduate degree at Salford University and qualified as a Sonographer in 2013. I worked at Pennine NHS Trust as a Sonographer for 8 years before moving part time and working for NMU, where I am based at Tameside Hospital. I met Pamela while working at Pennine NHS Trust and when she opened Miracle Within, I was very excited to join her team!
What does Miracle Within mean to you
I absolutely love working as a Sonographer and being part of the Miracle Within team. Being able to share so many special moments with my patients such as providing reassurance and helping them meet their baby for the first time is something I look forward to everyday and will always love most about my job.

Myself and what I enjoy
I enjoy spending time with my close family and friends; eating good food, going on nature walks and visiting new places. As much as I like to go out I'm a home bird at heart and love to be cuddled up on the sofa watching a good series on the TV, especially a drama, thriller or a romantic comedy.
If I had to describe myself, I would say I’m friendly, easy-going, always positive and a loyal friend.
My career as a Sonographer
Since college I knew this was my dream job. I worked as a radiographer from 2013 and I’ve now been a qualified sonographer since 2021, currently working full time in the NHS.
My favourite part of ultrasound is obstetrics as I find the detail and information we can see fascinating, it never fails to amaze me. I love to explain what I’m looking at during the scan and the close relationships I build with my patients.
What does Miracle Within mean to you
All the staff at Miracle Within are exceptional. We are all medically trained so you know your baby is receiving the best care and attention. The baby’s wellbeing is the priority, but being able to spend time watching baby’s movements and features (especially in 4D), is absolutely priceless. I feel it is a huge privilege to be a part of your journey with you and your family.

Myself and what I enjoy
I live with my family and our cat Joseph. I enjoy spending time with my friends, live music, and sitting in with a good book! I have also recently finished my degree in Drama, during which I specialised in lighting and set design. I’m really passionate about live theatre and music technology, and love going to shows when I’m not at work!
My career in admin
I’ve recently finished my degree, and had a part-time job at a local GP surgery alongside my studies, where I met Pamela’s other daughter. We got on really well, and as soon as a job opened up at Miracle Within she put my name forward to Pamela and Georgia- and as they say, the rest was history!
What does Miracle Within mean to you
It sounds a bit silly, but I genuinely didn’t know you could enjoy a job this much before I worked here! Our team is incredible and we all get on so well, and it means the absolute world to me to be a part of so many people’s special moments.
